1. Data journalism
I am a data journalism pioneer in Brazil, having founded the first data-driven news agency Volt Data Lab in the country, in 2014, where I have delivered over 60 projects for newsrooms and other partners in a decade. Volt Data Lab is now a journalism-support organization that provides technology and consulting services for legacy and independent media organizations.
2. News initiative
I am the co-founder of Nucleo Jornalismo, an award-winning, impact-oriented tech news outlet in Brazil, where I act as a director.
3. News Deserts Open-Source Research
In 2017, I co-created Atlas da Noticia, the first open-source project to map and analyze news deserts and local media initiatives in Brazil. I currently serve as technical coordinator for Atlas.
4. Fellowships
I'm currently a JSK Fellow at Stanford University (2025-2026) under the formal title of Knight Latin American Fellow. Previously, I served as an ICFJ-Knight Fellow (2020-2022), an ICFJ TruthBuzz Fellow(2018-2019), and a Tow-Knight Fellow with the Entrepreneurial Journalism Program at CUNY (2016).
5. Volunteer Work in Journalism
I served as a board member at the Brazilian Association of Investigative Journalists (Abraji) from 2017 to 2023.
6. Past Reporting
I have worked for several newsrooms, including Reuters, the newspaper O Estado de S.Paulo, the fact-checking agency Aos Fatos, the Latin-American magazine AméricaEconomia, financial news agency Mergermarket, and Yahoo News Brasil. My reporting has also been published or republished by most of Brazil's major news organizations.
7. University Education
I hold a bachelor's degree in Journalism from Mackenzie University and a master's degree in International Relations from PUC, both in São Paulo, Brazil.
